This is a great company to do business with. My purchase arrived quickly and was exactly what I ordered. The Aquabound Flaire is the best value in the marketplace. Happy paddling.

"I contacted Tuckerman Outfitters after receiving a product with a manufacturing defect. The next day (Saturday) I heard from Brian who first made sure I was using the product correctly and then acted on my behalf to secure a replacement from the manufacturer. Brian kept me well informed regarding his progress and made sure that I was satisfied with the result of our interaction. I couldn't be happier."

Matthew in Oregon

[After Tuckerman Outfitters shipped overnight at no extra charge to help out a good customer and fellow outdoorsman] Ten minutes ago, as we were leaving for the lake, the UPS fellow showed up with the Airhead pump. You made my sons' day. Thanks for the x-tra effort.

The Best Snow Adventures Means the Right Snowshoes and Cleats

The Best Snow Adventures Means the Right Snowshoes and Cleats

If you are into winter outdoor adventures, chances are you are either into snowshoeing or have given it some serious thought. It is an ideal way to pass the hours in the great outdoors. However, if you are new to snowshoeing, you want to be sure you purchase the right equipment.

There are many good snow shoes and cleats to choose from, and they can be found in various price ranges, designed to fit anyone’s budget. One thing you want to be sure of is that you do invest in quality snowshoes; otherwise you will find it can be very frustrating to use inferior equipment. This is especially important if you are just learning how to snowshoe, as there are techniques that go along with it.

Once you start snowshoeing, you are going to want to spend a great deal of time in the wilderness, which means more traveling. In this case you want to be sure your equipment is not only versatile for the type of elements you will face, but also lightweight. It is really important that your snowshoes are of good enough quality that they have the strength and durability you need for this activity. This means that the ribs of the snowshoes must be placed in the exact proper position, and there have to be reinforcements with it.

Comfort is also going to be very important, and the materials the snowshoes are made from are going to play a role in how comfortable they are. The ones that are comprised of stainless steel and aluminum framing are an excellent type of snowshoe. Vinyl decking is also a good way of providing the comfort that one needs when going on long snowshoeing adventures.

One of the important aspects of snowshoes is good flotation, which prevents them from tiring out prematurely. Quality snowshoes will have a good hinge that pivots correctly to prevent the tail of the snowshoe from lifting. This leads to good flotation. You also want to be able to have good control of your snowshoes. With any of the quality snowshoes on the market, this should never be an issue.

If you are into winter outdoor activities, you are also going to have a need for ice cleats. Again, it is worth taking the time to choose the types of cleats that are more applicable to the outdoor activities you plan on participating in. For example, one big benefit of using ice cleats is the ability to prevent the wear and tear that is often created on your ski boots. These are inexpensive items and well worth the investment.
